If I remember correctly, Beethoven originally titled his 9th after Napoleon but soured on him after he had himself crowned Emeperor and changed it.

Naw, that was the 3rd, 'Eroica' (heroic).

Excellent. Heard the maestro and the Berlin perform this at Carnegie Hall. By chance, I was at my parents hotel (they were visiting) and, while walking out, we looked in an open door of the conference center and what did we see? The members of the orchestra conducting a self critique of their performance to make sure they did a better job the next night. Quite a site, the concert and the self-critique.

My bird Henry always takes pause for Beethovan (really stops doing whatever when he hears him) but only whistles the ode to joy from the 9th...not a bad tune either (I do love this passage, maybe more than the 9th)

Knew a couple of Double Yellow-front Amazons back in the day, one belonged to a near-madman and was as nuts as it's owner, it would sing a garbled version of 'Yankee Doodle' constantly. The other was a sweetie and would sing Italian opera beautifully. Funny, we couldn't get them to breed.

Oh Henery invariably turns the ode to joy into the Mayberry song...sometimes throws in a little Yankee Doodle too, but always ends with a pretty bird compliment to himself...Henery is either narcissistic, gay, and/or thinks he's human...he's had opportunities with three female tiels but spurned them all...
