Oh, somewhere in this favored land the sun is shining bright;
The band is playing somewhere, and somewhere hearts are light,
And somewhere men are laughing, and somewhere children shout;
But there is no joy in Mudville - mighty Casey has struck out.

It's all the fault of the 'left'.

They vote for somethin' and they get the opposite.
They vote for somethin' again... and they get the opposite.

Then they stop voting.

Dumb fucks.

I did it... all by myself.

I am Spartacus... and I like it under the bus.

No, it was mine, some people I know begged me to help keep the Kennedy legacy alive. I think we have. I haven't even seen the bus for years. If I spot it, I'll give you a hand.

keeping the Kennedy torch burning?

(and no, thats not a double entendre)

who fuckin' cares? One guy suggested that the Dems lost Kennedy's seat on purpose, so that they wouldn't have that 60 seat majority hangin' round their necks. Now they can say, "The mean old Repulikans won't let us good guys do nothin'!" Then they can go back to whining mode and relax. Made sense to me...

the halls, flashing billy-sticks and snarling at anything that moves. These are grim times at the sweatshop, post at your peril. (It is really, really hard not to make sour jokes at the expense of their "heroes" and run the risks...)

Clumsy attempt to say: the result was completely consistent with the Kennedy legacy.

or at least, not one who thinks that 'if we just expose this travesty everything will change!!', I gotta say that guy's suggestion sounds truer to me all the time...

It occurred to me a few weeks ago in a post to TIA that all this fraud in the elections (I do believe that his research supports the idea that the numbers are played with in addition to the zillion other ways elections are manipulated) is really effective in that it keeps the race close, ya know? I think that is the main thing - the closer the races, the more it all matters, the more of a sports-team mentality the party politics people get into, the more it can dominate the news, conversation, etc.

And of course once I started to think of it that way it seems even more and more true, and this recent Mass senate seat election sure plays into the idea - wasn't Coakley up by double digits just a few weeks ago? And suddenly the margins are razor thin, and suddenly the Repub pulls out a win...it all seems so damn orchestrated.

I'm not trying to say its as simple as that, there are a million factors going into this process - campaign folks are experts in psychology and manipulation and propaganda so it isn't just playing with the numbers at the end and releasing fake poll stats or something. It's just the result of a system set up to only allow two very similar teams play a tight match.

To bad they're playing with our lives rather than a football. Shit, they'd be playing golf. At least if it were tennis I'd enjoy watching it.
