Have you ever had a me first "friend" that looked out not for your interests but only for their interests?
Have you ever had a "friend" that had other "friends" that looked out not for your interests but only for those interests that could help their interests? This may all sound like double and triple speak but that in a nutshell is the US-Israel relationship. All for them, none for us.
I do consider Israel an ally, but not necessarily a friend. Friends take care of friends. Allies take care of themselves. Israelis can take care of themselves.
If it was up to me which obviously that is only political fantasy, I'd tell Israel that they are on their own TOTALLY. Do not expect the US people to provide blind support unless Israel has returned to the pre 1967 borders and returned all settlements. Also no more US tax dollars will go to Israel because we can't support the needs of our own people.
So when it comes to Israel I'm neutral, and I'm also America first. That's the relationship that we should have with every ally.
