ACA rejects people who make too little -- especially single people and those without children -- and shunts them to Medicaid. In many states (especially the "protest" states) those people have shit all chance of getting on Medicaid. Helluva way to qualify for an "exemption".

Lucky you. Income has sunk to the point where I can't afford the lame ass 'silver' & will not throw away money for the bronze. Meanwhile my foot is swollen like a mutant knockwurst(dropped firewood on it) but will hold off going to 'urgent care' a few days to see if it 'gets better'. Fuck Obama.

The bronze plans are unconscionable. You pay everything out of pocket anyway up to some absurd amount AND Obama cuts the company a check every month on your behalf. Damn, BP, sounds like you are in the terrible gray zone of making too much to get a "reasonable" (ie Obama give away) subsidy and too little to afford their outrageous prices (just about every one is slipping into the latter category).

My understanding is that if the cheapest "bronze" plan still costs more than 8% of your gross income, you're supposed to be able to file for a "hardship exemption" to avoid the fine. See the instructions for "form 8965" for further details. In addition, anyone that earned less than $10,150 in 2014 also qualifies for a hardship exemption.
