But Rachel Corrie's death was horrific. Yet no outcry from the US about Rachel but the media is non-stop about Neda.

I discovered this week that Western media are capable of personalizing victims--only when they want, and only when it serves the larger imperial interests. You watch the coverage and want to us some American reporters: you were under the impression that Middle East victims have no faces or names? Did those media note the names and faces of the victims of the American-installed regime of the Shah?

I can't just accept the story of Neda. It doesn't help that the first three letters of her name are N E D. I remember Jessica Lynch. I remember the emotional "testimony" about babies removed from incubators. It all smacks of a PR campaign. And, as many have pointed out, a destabilized Iran is EXACTLY what Israel was looking for. Isn't it amazing that it's just exactly what they got?
