Comrade Enrique Lopez Gutierrez, candidate member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Mexico (PCM) was kidnapped and "disappeared" on Saturday night, July 18, by an armed group who violently stormed his house .

During the past four years, Comrade Enrique Lopez had carried out open political work which was recognized by the trade unions between the Tampico and Altamira regions through the Federation of Independent Workers (Federación de Trabajadores Independientes (FTI)).
