Personal Choice Party Makes Early Presidential Decision
Ken Larsen, State Moderator of the Personal Choice Party of Utah, announced that his party held a State Convention today (July 28) to select a candidate for President of the United States. The strategy of this early Convention was to give the candidate an advantage of a longer and more successful campaign. Mr. Jay, said he would be on every state ballot, including write-ins where applicable.
Charles Jay ran unopposed at the Convention, at which the Moderator read a statement from him. His victory was unanimous, with no write-ins or abstentions. The Personal Choice Party now stands at about half the required number of signatures for ballot status, and Mr. Larsen claims that they will probably exceed the required 2,000 by the end of September.
Mr. Larsen called Mr. Jay to announce his victory and Mr. Jay responded with enthusiasm for his national campaign, mainly on the Internet, where he is preparing a "powerful" campaign site.
Mr. Jay has not yet announced his choice for Vice President.
Charles Jay Statement to Convention
Everything involves a choice,
And there are two sides to every choice.
Being involved in the Personal Choice "Cause" is your choice. It's your life. It's your liberty. It's your pursuit of happiness. It's about you securing your own rights.
Conversely, it is also about securing the rights of others. We must allow others the same rights to self determination that we work to secure for ourselves. Everyone has the right to live theirs own lives, enjoy their own liberty and pursue their own happiness. We deny ourselves the same rights when we deny others. Either everyone is free, or no one is free.
To achieve this "win-win" reality, many in Utah have opted to put into effect an alternative approach to solving political and social issues, without forfeiting our rights or the rights of others. In essence, it is the policy of tolerance.
As a political party:
Personal Choice has no official party platform other than personal choice. It is a platform of tolerance. Political candidates choose and champion their own platforms. They campaign for the causes they select. Personal Choice Party candidates do not need to adhere to any policies they may disagree with to be eligible to run for a political office in our party. Some candidates find that they compromise their own principles when they agree to uphold the principles of a party they join. More Here
As a coalition:
It has worked with other organizations to promote the cause of tolerance in our communities. The coalition has promoted rallies, press conferences, events and literature in conjunction with other organizations. More Here
As a philosophy:
the meaning of Personal Choice is unique to each of us. That is as it should be. No one should be allowed to define what personal choice means to you. The other side of this coin means that you are not allowed to define what personal choice means to anyone else.
Personal Choice is a very simple and reasonable approach to life in these very complicated days. A 'Live and let live' policy with a restrictions as simple as the approach, 'Do not infringe on the rights of others'.
