Damn davidmills is really an asshole in that thread. I liked Daveparts "I'm a socialist..a Democratic socialist!". Sounds like a line you could work into Animal House with a little trying.

At least good ol consistent Klatoo makes his usual amount of sense (less than none)

Jobs, Gates and Buffet to the rescue.

The place has turned crazy.

By necessity, the people who create investment opportunities have to be a select group. That goes without saying.Their impact on the rest of society is what matters.

For example, I remember a time when Apple was at the end of its rope and many people were in danger of losing their livelihood when Steve Jobs returned and took on his job as CEO for an annaul compensation of one dollar for several years in return for stock. That stock when Jobs came back was worth about one dollar. At yestrday's close Apple was trading at close to $300, all because of the creativity and zest and dedication Steve Jobs brought to his work.

There are many Steve Jobs out there. And,if you want to know something more about Steve Jobs, it would behoove you to read his personal fight against prostate cancer and his very gripping advice to Stanford's graduating class on making a difference in other people's lives as your life's mission. When I read that it sounded no different than listening to the Dalai Lama himself. Not surprisingly Steve Jobs is a student of Hindu thought.

We need to stop tarring people like Steve Jobs and Warren Buffett and Bill Gates with a broad brush as evildoers because they have money. There may well be others who can be painted thusly but these three gentlemen are not the right candidates.

One more thing of note about Steve Jobs.In his first go around at Apple, he was unceremoniously kicked out by a Pepsi Cola salesman called John Sculley.Jobs , who was hurt, never said a bad word against that man and even after his triumphant return to Apple has remained quiet about Sculley.

That is class.

Maybe Kucinich announcing that he was considering Ron Paul as a running mate has caused them to reconsider their outlook on "free markets" a little bit.

Imagine, they tossed us for refusing to endorse Kucinich - that proved we were insufficiently pure and enlightened - and now Kooch has screwed the pooch. What's a progressive to do? At least Paul was honest enough to say the he and Kucinich had nothing in common politically, and that it was out of the question that they would run together, and that he was a loyal Republican so people should not look to him for an independent run for the presidency.

The nice thing about calling yourself a "progressive" is that you can just keep changing the definition as needed.

Y'know even if you take Dennis Kucinich to be what his backers claim he is -- a true champion of progressive values (whatever that means) -- it stuns me how they fail to see why hes such a flop. All of their ridiculous PCisms on multiculturalism have, ironically, blinded them to exactly how much of a freak DK is considered to be by the general population. The progressive crowd really does seem to be enamored with the little asshole.

Sure, maybe its all a media produced conspiracy, but when the guy is talking about fucking UFOs, what are people supposed to think? Its not even an issue of being a crackpot -- what do UFOs have to do with politics?

DK gives a speech on C-Span and the believers quip "see, why don't people get it?!" DK fails to do the hard work of organizing a real campaign and rallying the people and that draws nary a murmur. DK is, intentionally or not, a botch artist at running a campaigning.

Its not simply because he gets screwed over on face time at the debates, either. Or the "traditional media" casting him in an unfavorable light.

And we haven't even got to the questions about his dubious politics yet.

Know what? We are looking at things backwards.
