post feature length films you find uploaded to youtube that might be of interest here. don't know how well this thread will endure but i'll try to kick things off with The North Star (1943)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ZGN3PmnOPU

this movie is a strange instance of communist workers being humanized (heroized, even!) in an American movie, as if they weren't really any different from, say, the Joad family in John Ford's "Grapes of Wrath" (if the Joads were in a position to exact vengeance for their suffering, if they had become partisans). bear in mind, this was made in 1943. so... that probably has something to do with it.

the imdb reviews are disgraceful, dismissing it as propaganda, as if propaganda can't be truthful and have artistic value.

anyway, i hope you like it.

Two Soviet partisans depart their starving band on a short march to a nearby farm to get supplies. The Germans have reached the farm first, so the pair must go on a journey deep into occupied territory, a voyage that will also take them deep into their souls. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0075404/

i think mosfilm has all their movies up on youtube btw.

Interesting. I admit I've never really thought about looking for feature films on youtube.

well, it's not exactly the ideal way to watch a movie.

There is quite a lot of content there, some only temporarily as it violates "intellectual property."

Regarding Mission to Moscow, it is interesting to know that the flick has a basis in real history - the history of some of our most elite citizens:

The Ascent is excellent. I saw it the other day. Highly recommend it. Hey TA.
