Despite stagnant revenues, companies are reporting booming profits on the basis of a relentless assault on jobs, wages and working conditions.

Well, you won't hear any of this on the "nightly news". And NPR, that voice of "the left", sings full-throat the paeans to big business, all things corporate, and gosh ain't we doin' great! tens of thousands of jobs, slashed and yet, their bottom-lines keep going up...

Even as they continue to attack jobs and wages, the corporations, with the full backing of the Obama administration and governments worldwide, are sitting on massive cash reserves. US corporations are estimated to be holding a cash hoard of $1.5 trillion.
Instead of using this money for productive investment and an expansion of employment, the corporate-financial elite is using it to finance speculative operations and stock buyback programs that drive up share prices and further enrich corporate CEOs and big investors—at the expense of the living standards of billions of people around the world.

It is a contradiction of previous recieved wisdom, that when the markets are riding high labor should also
should also be able to assert itself, taking advantage of capitalist competition for it's commodity. When the economy tanks is not the time to strike, the man wants to close plants anyway, labor is more valuable to them when they are expanding production. Obviously it's the wide open globalization and the obvious, though difficult response is the globalization of organized labor.

Ha...
So is Imperialism with a Human Face ("for the kids, ya know?"), wire-tapping, and real politik.
The liberal road trip is also passing through "equality = equal opportunity", and the new patriotism.
Next, THE NEW REACTION... far more reactionary than the old.
Wadda ya want, though?
You don't want Ted Cruz appointin' the Supreme Court, do ya?

The New Reaction is already in the White House, it'll be more than a trickle by the time it reaches level ground. In the mean time you got this Crist character anti-trending and running around with half a page he cribbed from Huey Long. Quite amusing how he's making the party regulars squirm. Among the garden variety opportunists Crist make Newt look like a piker.

Crist is actually a very odd duck. I always thought that he got shot because he ended felony disenfranchisement (something the Democrats have never had the stomach for). Of course the new GOP guy reinstated it immediately.
Meanwhile, Crist brought up ending the embargo with Cuba this week as well.
No matter how bad he is, he ends up to the "left" of the Dems.
Shocker.

Right. The old right is the new left and the new right...wait that's not it. The old left was always the new right, but now the old right is the new left and the old left is now the old right...no, the left was right of the old right, but... Shit! How did it go, again?

Back when he ran the first time, I remember being scoffed at for saying that they were making Crist out to be a populist. I didn't get it myself (still don't) but its pretty undeniable now. I've just been going with your Odd Duck theory.
'Course, he still quacks like the rest of them..

That's what I call throwing down the gauntlet(Cuba), he's going straight at them. Ambitious, pull that off and thing are different in Florida (for national politics).
Mondale was to the left of Obama.
And this dude was a Republican governor.
Holy shit.
