lying, blood-soaked murderers. I heard a guy on Democracy Now, this morning say that we needed to get rid of this "particular, rabid FORM of capitalism". He was talking all the right words right up until he came to the "money shot" and he blinked, he stepped back. It isn't capitalism, per se, that is the problem, just this particular form that is wrong. Of course the reporter did not ask him where he got that this is some different kind of capitalism. She didn't ask what the hell he meant. She just let him say that if we could just 'get back' to a gentler capitalism - like in the past when our heroes were in charge, then we'd be in a heaven on earth. It was really sickening to see this once again - "good" capitalism; everyone talks about it, but no one has any idea as to what the fuck such a thing would even look like. The fear of speaking out against capitalism is palpable. And it is this capitalism that is the real party governing this country - Democrats and Republicans mean shit - they are all capitalists and they have no qualms at killing anyone, anywhere for their politics...

Democracy = Capitalism.

The right has been pushing the idea for decades, as usual they are the more honest of the two factions. The contortions and backflips that liberals execute in trying to parse this are painful to behold. Last time I brought this up over there, in very stark terms, the hostility was overwhelming, they don't like being naked.

The apologists for Capitalism are holding a smaller and smaller patch of ground. I think it is good first that people are being forced to choose sides, as so clearly happened here, and forced to overtly defend Capitalism and spout libertarianism so everyone can see it. At first Capitalism was barely even talked about, then it was "Capitalism is good, except for a few criminals" then it was "some forms of Capitalism are bad and we need regulation" and then "all Capitalism is bad as you say, except for a few kinds that are green and progressive and responsible and other good stuff like that" now it is "all Capitalism is bad as you say, but it is inevitable and we can't escape it, and there is no alternative, so we have to make the best of it, and besides you are a poopy head and all my friends agree." LOL

OK, no it isn't..but isn't it really just in decay..I mean, right? And, besides, its still the best and most viable system for organizing human effort and activity and production so..

What surprised me is that the people here at PI - supposedly too radical and left wing for DU - were the most hostile to us.

They had set themselves up as the "not them" and when they were confronted with the sad truth that that was nothing at all, they imploded. Suddenly they "saw" that the Reds on PI were dealing with the enlightened ones as though they were "DUers"! "My god, the effrontery of these commie buffoons!" They could not "see" that none of that means anything at all...

It is all personal with the "me first" crowd - they cannot get past it.
