A movement back in the streets

Mike posted this SW article on OET. I think it's a pretty good assessment of the Reform Immigration for America coalition. As I've said before their message is horrible, and their strategic approach is even worse, but they did mobilize a large number of working class folks at this event.

The follow-up, they are organizing, is office visit to pols home for the Easter recess, and local May Day rallies. Our Workers Center is paying lip service to the former, and are involved in the latter, because as the largest Latino working class organization in the area, we have quite a bit of control over the message. The UFCW local has a strong pro-workers stance, and usually, avoid the jingoism like the article attributes to Andy Stern (he even embarrasses local SEIU people). They generally are a strong participant in such events.

Anyway, it's a worthwhile read. I'm cross-posting, because there is no way I'm going to register over there.
