Some years ago we drove into Limon, unbeknownst to us there had been a labor action the night before. There were remains of barricades littering the wide avenue through the business district, some tires still smoldering. The streets were empty except for squads of paramilitary cops. We found our way, lost to be honest, to a working class neighborhood and eventual engaged these young black kids as guides and translators. It was a dockworkers strike and push led to pushback. People were upbeat as hell, carnival atmosphere, very cool.
