I laughed when I put my snow shovels away last week - 'am I jinxing myself? hahaha no way, no more snow...'

Recap - there are three bad things about Michigan winter, as I said back when you whined about the first snow of the season. First, there is dreading it in November. Then there is a brief stretch in February when there is the very real possibility that it might kill you. Last, there comes a day in April when you will say WTF? Aren't we done with this for the year?

After 30+ winters in this state, you'd think I'd learn. But you would be wrong. :)

Heh, first flowers are on the tomatoes. With any luck I'll be eating an 'Old German Woman' on the 4th of July.

I don't blog. I do facebook, but status entries are bad enough - writing entire essays about myself would bore people to tears.

Yeah, I wouldn't even begin to blog about me. I tried to write up this piece about Plekhanov, but it was too big to post in a blog and I couldn't cut it down without screwing up the whole point of posting so I just dropped it...

This is ridiculous. I thought we might get a little dusting, and then the sun would come out and it would be warm. Nothing to be concerned about. But it has been coming down all morning, the car is covered, the streets are slushy, it is gray and cold... WTF????
What do you think Megan, it looks to be a couple of inches anyway and it's been in the 30's all morning. The 30's. I put the boots and gloves and long johns away a couple of weeks ago.

I think one purpose of having the blogs here is to use them to flesh out aspects of our argument which are auxiliary to our primary conversation. Thus I intend to use mine to highlight the ecological argument, largely by mining the pi environmental forum.
I suppose I could tell twisted tales from my years as a zookeeper but I don't think that would advance the conversation much.

Yesterday I had breakfast out on the front porch and the birds were giving a concert like you would not believe. Yeah, that snow up north really sucks, but...
Hubby had a job offer in Seattle recently. What's worse - tea partiers in Texas or liberals in Seattle? Six of one, half dozen of another ... Money was about the same, so it came down to weather. I like sun and 80 degrees. I don't like gray and rain. Easy decision.

I must say that after this winter I am considering your suggestion with renewed interest.
Looking back over the winter (we can laugh now...) I am shaking my head in wonder - was it really 30 below??? Did we really not see the sun for 4 weeks at one point? Did it really snow 18 days in a row? Was it really continuously below freezing for 45 days? Did I really change a flat tire in the middle of nowhere at 11:30 at night in a blizzard at 10 degrees? How do we survive this shit?

Well, that's what the little tag said.

This is an 'Old German', similar, got it at the big box store. With a name like that how could I resist?
BTW, got one of them fancy-pants 'farm stores' bout 3 miles from the house. Gotta be a hobby project but very well funded, massive solar array, a variety of livestock, all spiffy new-rustic. Some interesting offerings for the expansive carnivore like guinea fowl but it's all higher than a camel's asshole. I'll bet Jacq would love it.

Yeah, I think it was a couple inches, but it's been warm enough that I didn't actually have to shovel. This morning my porch steps were iced over though from all the dripping. Damn. That's it though, right? RIGHT???
And I'm seriously considering moving up to NH or Maine or something. What the fuck is wrong with me? My daddy always said I seemed to like doing things the hard way as a kid. LOL.
eta: and Yikes, indeed. Sometimes you gotta read something out loud to hear how it sounds before you post, bp.

Youse people got filthy minds.
OK, I confused a German Queen with an Old German Woman, a couple synapses not quite firing right, sue me. Which gets me to thinking about Catherine the Great......

Back up north and they are saying 10-15 inches overnight. Coming down heavy right now.

Oh damn, I just looked at the radar, that's a big storm! We're staying just warm enough that it'll all be rain. Shit, you shoulda stayed south another couple of days!

I dug ditches, literally, today. It was 93. A flurry wouldn't hurt my feelings.
Chill :)
