Two news items from the Democratic wing of the Republican Party:

Two Key Dems Back Bush's Pro-Torture AG Choice

WASHINGTON D.C. (AP) - Michael Mukasey drew closer to becoming attorney general Friday after two key Senate Democrats said they would vote for him despite his refusal to define an interrogation technique that stimulates drowning as torture.

The decision by Sens. Charles Schumer and Dianne Feinstein came shortly after the chairman of the committee, Patrick Leahy, D-Vt., announced he would vote against Mukasey, a former federal judge.

Meanwhile, having shown their support for torture, the Democrats also show their support for American sweatshops and Chinese slave labor:

Bill Clinton Teams with Wal-Mart in 'Green Buying' Scheme

SEATTLE (AP) -- Former President Bill Clinton told more than 100 mayors Thursday that stopping global warming depends on them demonstrating that it makes economic sense. He said his foundation is teaming up with Wal-Mart Stores Inc. to save cities money on environmentally friendly supplies by buying in bulk.

“We will not get a global agreement on climate change unless you can prove this is not a burden,” he said. “This is the greatest opportunity we have had in our lifetimes.”

In addressing a climate summit in Seattle organized by the U.S. Conference of Mayors, Clinton announced that the 1,100 cities represented by that organization will become part of the purchasing group. Wal-Mart, the nation’s largest retailer, said it would work with Clinton’s foundation and the cities to bundle orders and product specifications for green technology.

Note that Clinton is now showing his true Simon Legree color: if Wal-Mart is "green," so were the plantations of the antebellum South.

Anyone left out there who still believes there's even a scintilla of real difference between the Democrats and the Republicans?
