The Gore voter "false recall" argument was first stated on DU in April 2005. The poster was made mincemeat of by thinking, rational DUers.

Just a month later the misinformationist extroadinaire OnTheOtherHand (Mark Lindeman) made his debut on DU. Mark made a career of promoting the same, lame argument and hijacking every post I made - even after I was banned from DU and others presented my analysis.

In the Aug. 25, 2005 DU "game", he was challenged to prove mathematically how Bush won by 3 million votes. He accepted the stipulation that feasible returning voter weights must be used, as opposed to the mathematically impossible Final NEP 43/37 Bush/Gore weights. But he was forced to compensate by using extremely implausible corresponding vote shares to match the recorded vote.

To this day, Mark still promotes "false recall" as an explanation for 2004. But he is strangely quiet regarding the Final 2008 National Exit Poll. He dares not use the same argument to explain the impossible 46/37 Bush/Kerry returning voter split. That's because it would not only be laughed at, it would also prove he was wrong to use "false recall" in 2004, as well.

OTOH would have to claim that the reason for the impossible split was that returning Kerry voters lied and said they voted for Bush in 2004 - despite the fact that Bush had 22% approval. Since "false recall" cannot be used to explain the NEP vote split anomaly in 2008, neither did it make any sense in 2004. Since 2005, the "false recall" corpse has been lying in state; it was finally buried in 2008.

But if he does decide to argue that 46/37 makes sense in 2008, it will be interesting to see what his new "theory" will be. Truth seekers won't hold their breath waiting.
