Troy Labor Council

Resolution for a National March on Washington

for Peace, Jobs and Health Care Justice

Whereas:

The wars in Iraq, Afghanistan, attacks on Pakistan, military aid to Colombia, Israel and many of the countries that use US aid for repression of indigenous and popular movements, are making the people of the US and the world less safe.

And Whereas:

These wars and military aid are bankrupting the people of the US,
who are already suffering from staggering job losses, foreclosures and a broken healthcare system.

Therefore:

The Troy Area Labor Council AFL-CIO calls upon the AFL-CIO to organize a national march on Washington for Peace, Jobs and Healthcare Justice, to stop the wars and to use the resources freed up to end the jobs and health care crisis here at home.

Passed unanimously at the October 21, 2009 Meeting

Anyone here on a Labor Council? There isn't one in my immediate area...grrr, but I'm sure some endorsements of this would be welcome...

Central Labor Councils are AFL-CIO local or regional committees that include most the Unions in an area. Here, some Change To Win Unions are also included (but haven't paid dues since the two federations split). Our Workers' Center is invited to their meetings and can participate, but can't vote. I'll ask around and see if anyone has heard of this.

Hey curt, thanks. (nice to see you here). My local is too far from Troy, or not included. There was one closer but they closed shop in essence :(. I have discussed with some about reopening one here, but haven't connected yet. I know a few of the folks in the TLC, kick ass bunch, I gotta say...I like the resolution anyway, basically all about socio-economic justice...
