The principle target is not Clinton and the Democrats, who are right-wing representatives of the ruling class, but the working class. It is part of the assault on democratic rights as a whole, as the corporate and financial elite prepares to meet social opposition with repression.

Well, the Trots got this one right, even they stated it in a convoluted way. There hasn't been this much talk of violence and actual violence during an election cycle since...1860. The only thing that makes this year's election less volatile is that the "extreme" right are full of nothing but bullshit and bluster. The governor of Kentucky would no more give up his cushy career in order to "water the tree of liberty" than he would flap his arms and fly away. All of these petite bourgeois sons of bitches are just posturing for the rubes and the donors. They are as invested in this bloody system as much as any Clinton or Trump or Bush.

Call it the 'Trump Effect', though I suspect that the current tendency to go 'over the top', which appears to be the primary mechanism of 'reality tv' is itself a symptom of the crisis of capitalism. The actual politics of the duoploy of the booj are so vapid and rancid, like a pickled egg fart that hid under the car seat for hours,(sorry, couldn't find a more fitting metaphor) that there ain't much left to do(one cannot contrast Hilary and Mitt, too hard!)except to jump around and act crazy. They are running out of options, as they will soon run out of 'identity' presidents. After that what they got left but fascism?
