We were invited to a strategy session for a Community Organizing program for EFCA by Change to Win due to start this week. Today we were told by a local lead Organizer that the meeting was canceled. We asked why. The answer is that the bill can't pass in this congress, so the Federation is dropping the community effort.

WTF, shouldn't that mean they intensify the effort?

I laughed and told him to wait a day. No shit, the next day it was in the paper that they'd "worked out their differences" with the Administration over taxing "Cadillac plans"

If this isn't the Congress they have been waiting for there never will be one.

All of the people who have been saying that we must "working within the system" are now the ones saying that it is not possible to do that, so we are back to reforming and restoring the party and waiting for some day in the future when we will be able to "work within the system" for "progressive change."

They work within the system, beat down any critics of that approach, put all of their eggs in one basket - electing Democrats - Democrats get elected all over the place, and now they say they can't do anything. WTF? Then you say "maybe electing Democrats and working within the system was not the best strategy after all" but no - fewer people are willing to entertain that idea now than before. WTF? The same thing is happening with PDA and DFA.

Every alternative that is presented is immediately shot down , because of any number of "reasons". It is as if they have been so well trained to their functions that they just cannot make themselves walk out the opened barn door - that opened door scares hell out of them...

for "strategic" voting - kick the fucking Democrats out of office and let the "true believers" deal with that.

If people are up for it, we need to meet and decide what to do - need curt and dahlgren, and everyone. Otherwise, if there is no interest in that, I will talk to BP on the phone in the next few days and we will make a decision.

I'm outta town for a couple of weeks... Maybe I'm online. Maybe not. Please represent my interests. If not, start yet another website. I'm fascinated with the Republican approach to this. Six people means fourteen discrete political organizations with 43 websites.

O'course, they are cash flush.

I work nights so anytime after midnight EST is probably not good.

But think SI would be a good place:
