Tennis Funtime!!!1! It's great how easy it is to watch online these days, with a nice, clean official stream, you can watch more than one court at a time... None of that ustream nightmare.

Chlams, who should we be keeping an eye on this year?

I've only caught a couple matches so far...That young kid Ryan Harrison was very impressive in his loss to Stakhovsky - he looked like a child but had the demeanor of someone who has been on the big stage before, wasn't intimidated. Well played young man, don't let it go to your head.

Istomin's second set against Nadal was looking good, I thought he'd take that set and give Rafa some real trouble, but he couldn't seem to keep it together on the most important points. There were some great points between the two of them though.

So who to watch today? I'm hoping to catch some of the Capra match against Sharapova, I keep hearing about her but haven't seen her play yet. I tend to root for the underdog (surprise) and if it's an American they get bonus points - it's the closest thing to nationalism you'll ever see from me, rooting for young american tennis players.

I'll probably try to watch Djokovic tonight. I usually enjoy watching him play and for some reason I have never managed to see a whole Blake match.

Chlamor, do you have any professional opinions you'd like to share about which match-ups will bring us exciting tennis? It's always a bummer when I set aside time and focus for tennis and it's a big boring blowout.

sports is the only time I acknowledge tv's being in the house. I have been watching Federer since juniors and will be watching him today. I'll try to catch Capra's match as well. I tend to have favorites that I follow, though I will admit cheering for underdog Tipsarevic over stupid Andy Roddick. Typical capitalists he and Serena Williams - if they can't win honestly they start bullying the line judges.

Kinda counter-intuitive, ya know? But it is good to see someone taking the sport seriously.

I'll leave ya'll alone now, my work is done.

I came across menstennisforums.com where they have a thread with 1,425 replies called "Male Player Bulges". And yes, it really means what it sounds like.

Here's a link to another brawl where a woman slapped some asshole and then her old dad jumps in and the young guy pushes him so he tumbled down three rows of seats. Real charming.

These things just don't happen at Wimbledon, LOL.

5th set just started - some really good tennis going on here. I'm afraid Wawrinka may not keep his level up in the 5th but we'll see.

This is the first time I've seen either one play aside from a few minutes here and there. Querrey really seems to have something to his game.

eta: I think I may be up till 2am watching tennis today, lol, these matches are lasting a looong time.

Damn, Ferrer is a scrappy motherfucker. It's the 2nd set tiebreak - the last couple games have had some awesome points (and some fucked up calls). That last game was good though. (Now it's 6-6, the suspense is killing me)

I haven't watched this much tennis in years. It's so fun. I'm hoping to catch some of the Clisters v Stosur match too (I love being able to stream multiple courts - picture-in-picture baby!). I sorta dig Clisters despite her past relationship with Hewitt - EEEW -and I've never seen this Stosur person play that I can recall.

And just eye candy galore everywhere. Seriously. These people are physically badass and beautiful. Tall, short, gangly, solid, doesn't matter. All shapes and sizes of badass strong bodies. It's sort of lovely.

although I will admit to watching the Robredo match for the eye candy - I love when he's healthy ... The Wozniaki and Sharapova match last night was good, and of course I always enjoy watching Roger.

I also enjoy watching Kim, thought it was very cool for her to come back as a mom. She's still kinda mental though - some things never change.

they won the Olympic gold playing doubles together. Nice to see him break through in singles.

this Verdasco Ferrer match is INSANE. Verdasco came back form 2 sets down, now it's 5-5 in the 5th and I don't ever want it to end. LOL.

Good fucking tennis...

I didn't know this thread existed.

I'll try to chime in more tomorrow. Just watched the Verdasco-Ferrer match also. Too bad for little Davey, he choked the tiebreaker. On the bright side Verdasco can handle Nadal on hard court if he has a good day, Ferrer would've had no chance against Rafa.

Lopez can also handle Rafa on hard courts but not for five sets I suspect.

Djoker and Mofils will be a hoot.

Istomin definitely should've won a set or two against Rafa and should've beat Rafa earlier this summer on grass.

Lopez and Rafa starting up, gotta hit the sack.

although the last point was awesome. But after 4 1/2 hrs it's impressive that either of them was still on his feet.

I'm starting to watch Rafa and Lopez but I don't know how long I'll last. It's been a long day. It's a few games in now and it looks like Nadal is gonna crush him but anything could happen...

must've been taking care of the kids. i'll have to see if it's on the dvr. I started watching Nadal/Lopez but it was boring & I get up early with puppy so I only made it through a set.

I can't take her seriously. It looks like she's pretty good though, that wind is pretty gnarly, it's hard to get a sense of things..

I'm rootin for Cibulkova because a)she's the underdog and b)I want some good tennis to watch.

eta: c)because Wozniaki is too stupid to braid her her hair or wrap it in athletic tape or something. Her high ponytail is blowing around like a wind sock and whacking her in the face every 15 seconds. If I were in the stands I'd crash the court with some scissors and chop it off. She's missed a couple points cuz it was in her eyes. Dumbass. I hope Cibulkova breaks her here...oooh she did! Back on serve early in the 2nd.

but she has gotten full of herself lately. And then Donald Trump wants to watch her & she puts him in her box. He can't buy his own fucking ticket to watch the US Open? Even with the ludicrously high prices he can afford it. "He's really nice" she says. Gross ....

In junior tennis she won everything by playing moonball for hours. She does the same thing now except with 5 extra miles per hour. Dull, dull and dull mixed in with diva in training.

Fuck that match was like a slow death, drip-drip-drip. I can hit 90mph in my sleep on serve and these two were hitting second serves at 65-70. What's worse neither of them had the courage to step up and attack these floaters. They should've been banned to the outer courts for the ennui factor.

I was cheering for Fernando last night, of course, and annoyed with Nadal (can he move without getting Tony's ok from the stands?) ... but then I just got bored and fell asleep. You'd think with as much money as they spend on the tennis stadiums that they could fix their wind problem in Arthur Ashe.

Good thing it hasn't caught on fire or LI would be toast :(

Sorry, that's not where I meant to go with this post.

But as far as the tennis - the wind has made some of the matches pretty terrible. Either people play it so safe it's boring, or it's just one unforced error after another. It's gotta be driving the players insane, having so little control over their game.

she actually has her hair braided today. Vera is doing well so far, hope she can keep it together.

but looks like I'll get to see Vera play Clijsters in a little bit here...

I wasn't enthralled by the men's semis today. Barely watched Nadal/Youzhny and the Federer/Djokovic looked boring whenever I checked, but I started paying attention in the 5th. It didn't seem like either one of them was doing very great in the earlier sets, I'm sure there were great moments but whenever I checked in to watch a few points it was mis-hits and blah. Hoping for a good final though, I'm glad Djok made it.

I'm sorta glad this is almost over, I have too much time on my hands and tennis was a great distraction but it's time to move on :)
