A new strike for Wednesday 6/6 has been called by the dockworkers in Piraeus. The government has great responsibility for the attack on the right to strike

Image

Well-coordinated and with their heads held high, dockworkers from Piers II and III of the Container Terminal (SEMPO) in the Port of Piraeus returned to work late Friday night, 1/6, having completed almost three 24-hour strikes. In the previous days, with unending ‘carbon-copy’ decisions and pushing through proceedings at top speed, on Friday the court ruled ‘illegal’ both the strike that was called by the Labor Center of Piraeus and their union.

However, the employees at their General Assembly decided to suspend the mobilization and proceeded to declare a new strike for 6 a.m. Wednesday 6th June. The decision was taken unanimously at a new mass General Assembly that took place at the gates of the "COSCO" monopoly installations in the port.

Through their struggle, the workers sent a clear message to the bosses and the government that they are united and determined to continue their struggle for the signing of a satisfactory Collective Bargaining Agreement, for permanent stable work with full labor rights, for their inclusion in the category of ‘heavy and unhealthy occupations’ and for health and safety measures in the workplace.

The decisiveness of the workers crushed whatever effort was made to set up a strike-busting mechanism, turning the court decisions that characterized their strikes as ‘illegal’ into a worthless piece of paper, sparking off a wave of solidarity and revealing in the eyes of all workers what government and capital mean when they speak of ‘just development’.

The President of the Labor Center of Piraeus, Nikos Xourafis in his greetings to the great strike struggle waged by the workers, warned the bosses not to “dare touch a hair on the head of a striker”. The General Assembly concluded in a climate of enthusiasm, with slogans and vigorous applause.

From the employer’s side, on Friday they proposed to the workers to ‘commence a dialogue’, with the condition that they stop the strike, with the first meeting to be held on 25th June. The workers rejected the proposal.

In a statement by the All-Workers’ Militant Front (PAME) it denounced the court decision of the First Instance Court of Piraeus on Thursday that ruled illegal the 24-hour strike by the “COSCO” monopoly and Piraeus Port Authority workers, as well of the Labor Center of Piraeus.

As it stresses in the statement: “A new black page has been added to the anti-labor bible of the so-called ‘independent’ Justice. The decision of the Piraeus Court of First Instance that raced to issue an injunction in just a few hours against the just struggle of the workers, to declare the strike “illegal and abusive” is abhorrent and shameful, adding; “The government is complicit, because it implements all the decisions of capital. It holds great responsibility because it puts forwards legislation and argumentation, shielding big business, fortifying it against the workers and their struggles.”

Support for the strike was expressed by many Labor Centers and mass organizations all over Greece, as well as the USB dockworkers at the Port Of Trieste (Italy), the Labor Center of Marseille (France), the Labor Center of Cher (France), the trade union organization OSCMS (Czech Republic), the Construction Workers’ Union of Northern Denmark.

Piraeus Dockworkers: Through their decisive strike battle they won commitments for their just demands
They remain in readiness and vigilance to continue their struggle

Image

On Wednesday 6/6/18, dockworkers at Piers II and III of the Container Terminal (SEMPO) of "COSCO" at the Port of Piraeus successfully carried out yet another strike from dawn. That same day the bosses agreed to begin negotiations to sign a Collective Bargaining Agreement, while employers and the competent ministries pledged to include dockworkers in the category of heavy and unhealthy occupations.

Following this positive development, the workers were informed by their Union and they returned to their posts, suspending the strike mobilization which was underway, while emphasizing that they are in a state of militant readiness for the implementation of the commitments that were pledged.

In Athens on 23-25 November 2018 the 20th International Meeting of Communist and Worker’s Parties, hosted by the KKE
Press Release
Image

On Sunday, May 20th, 2018, the Headquarters of the Central Committee of the KKE hosted the session of the Working Group of the International Meetings of Communist and Worker’s Parties, that debated issues related with the celebration of the 20th International Meeting that will take place in the current year.

In the session of the Working Group the following Parties took part: Communist Party of Brazil, Communist Party of China, Communist Party of Cuba, AKEL (Cyprus), Communist Party of Bohemia and Moravia (Czech Republic), Communist Party of Greece, Worker’s Party of Hungary, Communist Party of India, Communist Party of India (Marxist), Tudeh Party (Iran), Socialist Movement of Kazakhstan, Worker’s Party of Korea (DPRK), Lebanese Communist Party, Communist Party of Mexico, Communist Party of Pakistan, Palestinian Communist Party, Portuguese Communist Party, Communist Party of Russian Federation, Russian Communist Worker’s Party, Syrian Communist Party, South African Communist Party, Communist Party of Spain, Communist Party of the Peoples of Spain, Communist Party of Turkey, Communist Party of Venezuela, Communist Party of Vietnam, Communist Party of Ukraine.

The Working Group decided that the 20th International Meeting, that will be hosted by the KKE in Athens, taking into account the completion of 100 years of life and activity of the Party, will take place on November 23, 24, and 25, 2018, themed: “The contemporary working class and its alliance. The tasks of its political vanguard – the Communist and Worker’s Parties – in the struggle against exploitation and imperialist wars, for the rights of the workers and of the peoples, for peace, for socialism”.

During the session of the Working Group the Parties exchanged opinions on the international and regional developments. Many Parties made reference to the disturbing developments in the area of the Eastern Mediterranean and of the Middle East, condemning imperialist war and interventions, particularly the bombing of Syria by the USA, Britain and France, as well as the murderous attack of Israel against the people of Palestine, primed by the decision of the USA to move their embassy to Jerusalem. Moreover, many Parties that took the floor denounced the decision of the USA to withdraw from the deal on the nuclear program of Iran. Many Parties noted the significance of the mass anti-imperialist demonstrations that took place in many countries, in combination with the struggle for workers’ and peoples’ rights, as it was particularly highlighted by the recent massive worker mobilizations for May 1st in many countries.

Simultaneously, the necessity to further reinforce the internationalist solidarity with the Communist Parties and the communists that are under persecution, or that their political activity is hindered, was highlighted in the debate, so that a decisive response is given to anticommunism, which is showcasing the limits of bourgeois democracy.

The Parties had a fruitful exchange of views regarding the promotion of the Common Activities that were decided in the 19th International Meeting of Communist and Worker’s Parties in Leningrad last year.

We should note that the representatives of the Communist and Worker’s Parties were invited and watched with great interest the activity of the Organization of Industrial Workers of the Attica Organization of the KKE, themed “Industrial proletariat: the vanguard in the struggle of the working class for the abolition of capitalist exploitation, for socialism-communism”, with D. Koutsoumpas, GS of the CC of the KKE as the main speaker.

ON THE AGREEMENT BETWEEN GREECE- FYROM

The agreement between the governments of Greece and FYROM was achieved by the overt intervention of the USA, of NATO and the EU, bears their seal and has been signed on the premises of the deadlines and agendas that these organizations have determined, in order for the euroatlantic integration to advance in the Western Balkans.

This objective derives clearly from the text of the agreement. It is not by chance that the first to greet this agreement were the State Department, NATO and the EU.

That is why the whole process focused on the issue of the name of the neighboring country, while a series of critical issues, such as countering irredentism, making necessary changes in the Constitution of the neighboring country, not only are postponed toan uncertain future, but also the situation becomes more complicated with the acceptance by the Greek government of positions regarding “Macedonian citizens” and “Macedonian language”, positions that constitute the essence of irredentism.

Consequently, it is an agreement that cannot guarantee a solution in favor of the Greek people, of the people of the neighboring country nor of the peoples of the region.

The government’s claims that – supposedly – this agreement will safeguard peace, cooperation and stability in the Balkans and in the broader region, are completely false, misleading and ignorant of history.

They overlook and consciously silence that NATO and the EU are factors of insecurity and of border changes, of fomenting nationalism and irredentism. The peoples of the Balkans, in particular, have their own negative experiences from the imperialists’ politics all these years.

It is silenced that the course of Greece, of Turkey, of Albania, of Montenegro, of Bulgaria and Romania in NATO and the expansion of the EU plans coexist with border disputes, infringements on the sovereignty of the states, stirring up even non-existent minority issues, at the expense of the peoples of the region. The relations between Greece and Turkey serve as the most typical example.

Moreover, it is silenced that the broader region is in the eye of the tornado of competitions, and that is why interventions, transport of strong military forces, installation of new military bases etc are multiplying. The adhesion of the countries of the Western Balkans in the NATO and the EU form part of these plans, in the context of the competitions with other powerful states, such as Russia.

The SYRIZA-ANEL government has transformed in the best flag-bearer of NATO’s and EU’s plans in the region, in favor of sections of the Greek capital that claim bigger shares of profit through the re-sharing of the region, from the looting and the exploitation of the peoples. Its the other side of the anti-people politics applied in the interior of the country, that crushes the people’s income and rights.

SYRIZA, dressed with the mantle of cosmopolitanism, absolves the role of imperialism, cultivating the illusion that the enlargement of the imperialist organizations establishes the peace and friendship of the peoples. Apart from its superficial objection, SYRIZA is joined and is aided by nationalist forces that even though they react negatively to this agreement, do not dispute the consolidation of NATO and of the EU in our region.

The Communist Party of Greece (ΚΚΕ) calls upon our people and the people of the region to strengthen their solidarity and common struggle against the imperialist plans, against nationalism, against NATO and the EU; now is not the time for complacency, like the one the government is trying to cultivate.

JOINT ANNOUNCEMENT OF KKE AND TKP Image

1. The Communist Party of Turkey (TKP) and the Communist Party of Greece (KKE), on the event of International Workers’ Day 2018, send warm militant greetings to the working class, the peoples of both countries and our region, and we call upon them to strengthen their common struggle against the bourgeois governments and the anti-people policies, capital and its power, to massively condemn imperialist wars and to develop the struggle for the overthrow of capitalist barbarism, for socialism, which is the future of the peoples.

2. The KKE and the TKP struggle for labour, popular interests, rely on proletarian internationalism, international solidarity, and with these principles face the complex developments in our region.

The contradictions and competitions around the wealth-producing resources, energy pipelines, the conquest of markets and the control of strategically important areas, penetrate the imperialist system and are strongly manifested in our region forming the basis for the "hot spots", imperialist interventions and wars such as those in Syria, Libya, Iraq.

The USA, Russia, China, Germany, France, Britain and other EU Member States are leading the competition, involving a large number of capitalist states, including Turkey and Greece, in order to promote the interests of the bourgeoisie.

Both cooperation and competition between the bourgeoisie of Turkey and Greece serve their own interests and have nothing to do with the interests of the peoples.

3. The KKE and the TKP condemn the anti-popular policy of the bourgeois governments of both countries, the repression, the persecutions against the Communist Party and the Communist Youth of Turkey, the anti-communism that is used in our countries as a "tool" for promoting anti-popular policies.

4. Our parties express their deep concern about the developments in the Aegean and the Eastern Mediterranean and oppose any increase in hostilities and warfare. We express our opposition to border violations in the Aegean and the controversy over the international treaties that have established the borders in the region.

The KKE and the TKP support the position of not changing the borders and the treaties that define them and struggle for the disengagement of the two countries from imperialist plans, the return of military forces from NATO and other imperialist missions abroad, and demand NATO to withdraw from the Aegean Sea.

The peoples of Turkey and Greece have nothing that divides them and have an interest in demanding to live peacefully and to fight for their own future, to abolish exploitation of man by man.

5. Experience has shown that the two countries' participation in NATO and the expansion of this imperialist military center in the region is directed against the peoples and Peace and both CPs will continue their struggle for the disengagement of our countries from NATO.

6.The EU is a transnational association of capital and is constantly becoming more dangerous to the popular interests. Our parties are opposed to the integration of new countries in the EU, such as Turkey, and we support the right of each people to struggle for disengagement from this imperialist union, a goal for which the KKE has struggled consistently over time.

7. The KKE and the TKP condemn once again the imperialist wars in Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya and the 7-year bloody imperialist war conducted by the USA, NATO and the powerful EU states against the Syrian people, in competition with Russia and Iran, which has cost hundreds of thousands of dead and millions of refugees.

We condemn the imperialist attack (April 14th) of the USA, France and Britain, together with the support of NATO and the EU, against Syria with the pretext of the use of chemicals by the Syrian army. We express our international solidarity with the Syrian people. We continue the antiwar, anti-imperialist struggle and greet the popular mobilizations against the imperialist attack.

Our parties have denounced the imperialist pretexts about the confrontation of terrorism and have revealed that the criminal organization “Islamic State” and other similar organizations were created, funded and trained by the USA and their allies to promote imperialist projects in the region.

Our parties denounce the presence of Turkish military forces in Northern Syria and demand the immediate withdrawal of all foreign troops from Syria, supporting that developments in this country - as in every country - are a matter of its own people.

The Kurdish issue cannot be resolved for the benefit of the peoples of the region with the assistance of the USA, NATO and the EU on the basis of their own aspirations. The rights of the Kurdish population and the settlement of the Kurdish issue for the benefit of the peoples of the region are linked to the common struggle of the peoples of the region, the development of consistent anti-imperialist action, the struggle for workers’ power.

The TKP and the KKE are against the incitement of minority, real and non-existent issues, the rise in irredentism used to change the borders, and we call upon the communists of the region to take the lead against imperialist plans, nationalism and any “Great Idea” plans.

8. The KKE and the TKP express their solidarity with the Cypriot people, Turkish Cypriots and Greek Cypriots, and support a just and viable solution to the Cyprus Issue, with the withdrawal of the occupiers and all foreign troops, for an independent Cyprus with one sovereignty, one citizenship and an international personality, without foreign bases and troops, a common homeland for Turkish Cypriots, Greek Cypriots, Latins, Armenians and Maronites, without foreign guarantors and patrons.

9. Our parties express their solidarity with the people of Palestine which is struggling against Israeli occupation.

They condemn the provocative position of the USA that recognizes Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and the unacceptable attitude of the EU that identifies the "perpetrator" with the "victim". Our parties support the recognition of an independent, sovereign Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, on the borders of 1967.

10. The TKP and the KKE cooperate in the theoretical journal "International Communist Review", the "European Communist Initiative", the International and Regional Communist and Workers’ Parties meetings and, together with other Communist parties, will continue the effort to strengthen the unity and the struggle of the communist movement for its revolutionary regroupment.

Our parties address the peoples of the two countries, the peoples of the region, and we call upon them to strengthen the struggle against the exploitative system which generates crises, unemployment, poverty, refugees, educational-cultural degradation, interventions and imperialist wars. To strengthen the efforts for the class unity of the working class, the social alliance with the oppressed by the monopoly popular strata, to develop the class struggle, the struggle for the workers' power, for socialism, which in our day is more timely and necessary than ever.

Die Linke and the ELP in service of the Imperialist Plans

According to a denouncement of the People’s Party of Palestine, the president of the Parliamentary Group of the the Die Linke party, party of the “left” in Germany – that has a leading role in the European Left Party (ELP) – in a recent trip that he made in Israel he visited an israeli settlement and “planted trees”(!!!) sending a message of support to the long-lasting occupation of Palestinian lands and of embellishing of the israeli crimes against the Palestinian people.

It is a conscious act that once again proves that Die Linke and the rest of the opportunist parties of the ELP put on the “mask” of progressiveness in order to deceive the peoples and in practice follow the dangerous politics of serving the bourgeois class, the European Union (that is upgrading its relations with Israel), the imperialist plans.

There are a lot of examples.

The European Left Party (ELP) has supported the imperialist intervention of the USA, of NATO, of the EU in Libya, supports the imperialist pretexts for the war in Syria.

It is a party that takes part in the anti-communist campaing in various ways and goes hand in hand with the most reactionary forces to distort the historical truth against socialism, against the Soviet Union and the other countries of the socialist construction.

In Greece, the SYRIZA government (SYRIZA being a distinguished member of the ELP) concedes everything to the USA, NATO and the EU: military bases, earth, sea and air for the imperialist interventions and wars; two days ago it provocatively supported the dangerous resolutions of the NATO Summit in Brussels and continues to sloganeer in order to obfuscate the dirty role that is plays!

The SYRIZA government upgrades the military, political and economic cooperation with Israel, covers the crimes of the occupation forces, denies to recognize the Palestinian state while at the same time dares to use slogans in favor of the Palestinian people in order to hide its dirty role in the interior also!

That is the favorite method of opportunism and social-democracy.

They do all the dirty work in service of the imperialist plans.

That is what Die Linke, SYRIZA, the ELP, generally do.

For the Communist Parties, to continuously uncover them, to intensify confrontation with these forces: that is an issue of crucial importance.

The policy that sacrifices fire protection is guilty of the CRIME

Image

The fires that broke out yesterday, 23rd July 2018, turned out to tragedies in various parts of Greece. There was a conflagration in Attica, as since Monday afternoon there was a great fire in a coastal area of West Attica, while a few hours later a fire started in a coastal area of eastern Attica which expanded. According to the confirmed data, due to the fire in eastern Attica the dead are over 50, the injured are over 150 - many of them seriously injured- while at least 1200 homes and 300 cars have been burned down.

Fires Greece

The responsibilities of the government for the disasters are criminal. The lack of fire protection measures is proved

The firefighting forces fought with the flames, but their struggle was uneven since the current government of SYRIZA-ANEL, like all the previous ones, blamed the weather, without having any substantial organization, infrastructure and means. As it is pointed out in the comment of the Press Office of the CC of the KKE: “The fires that destroy forest and rural land as well as residences, once again highlight the lack of fire protection measures, the inadequacy of forest protection and forest fire-fighting infrastructures and the shortcomings in means and personnel. The KKE demands from the government of SYRIZA-ANEL, from all responsible state and local authorities, to take all the necessary measures right now in order to effectively deal with the fires that are in progress.” .

It should be noted that the KKE last May, with a special event on fire safety and forest protection and also with a question in Parliament, had highlighted the implications of the policy that serves capitalist profit and the sharpening problems in the field of fire protection and forest firefighting and had demanded immediate measures to be taken.

In this event, the General Secretary of the CC of the KKE, Dimitris Koutsoumpas, among other things had mentioned the responsibilities of the SYRIZA - ANEL government and its predecessors and had stressed that they were identified in issues such as the maintenance of the entire anti-forest legal framework, the lack of preventive interventions in forest ecosystems, the underfunding of the Fire Brigade, the universal absence of proper infrastructure, consumables etc. He also pointed out that firefighters do not have the appropriate personal protective equipment, nor even a second uniform to wear.

“All of this result to serious obstacles in dealing with fires, the loss of human lives, the burning of whole forests and fortunes, because - they say - there is no money, while, literally, 4 billion euros are spent on NATO's military expenditure and billions of debts are being given to the big capital”, noted the GS of the CC of the KKE.

The Party Organization of Attica, the Communists in areas hit by fires were at the forefront and supported the efforts of the residents by giving valuable help to rescue people and protect their homes.

MPs and other cadres of the KKE visit the affected areas and the party intervenes to immediately secure accommodation, clothing, food, medicines and the direct compensation to the victims.

27th ANTI-IMPERIALIST 2-DAY CAMP OF KNE
Message of combative rally with the KKE and with KNE

Image

On July 6th, 7thand 8th, 2018 near the city of Patras (in Alissos) the 27th Anti-imperialist 2-day Camp of KNE was held under the slogan: “Join us to the struggle against the system that bears poverty, wars, refugees!” Thousands of young men and women took part in the activities, from around Greece.

The central political act of the Camp was held on Friday, July 6th in Patras, having the GS of the CC of the KKE, Dimitris Koutsoumbas as the main speaker. The city was flooded by red banners and anti-imperialist slogans, that were interchanging with slogans honoring the KKE for the 100 years of its heroic struggle and KNE for the 50 years since its founding.

Image

It was not by chance that Patras was chosen to host the Anti-imperialist Camp this year: Patras is very close to the air-base of Araxos, where last autumn works were being held and among others it was being prepared to host “special weapons”, that in the Air Force “lingo” means “nuclear weapons”. The KKE has denounced the plans to reinstall in Greece nuclear weapons, something that D. Koutsoumbas stressed again speaking in the rally, calling upon the SYRIZA-ANEL government to give responses regarding “If today there is or is not a discussion revolving around the place were the 50 US nuclear warheads that at the moment are in Incirlik will be moved, given the worsening of the relations between USA and Turkey”. The GS of the CC of the KKE denounced that on May 17th, Fred Fredrikson, head of NATO Nuclear Policy and solid supporter of the “first hit dogma”, along with other NATO staffers, visited the air base of Araxos to inspect the course of the implementation of the works. D. Koutsoumbas made reference to other military installations that the government of SYRIZA-ANEL is conceding to the USA ant to NATO in the margins of the so-called “geostrategic upgrading of the country”. He underscored that this new strategy of the SYRIZA-ANEL alliance government, that is supported by the rest of the bourgeois parties, “has nothing to do with upgrading the interests and the rights of the peoples. Has nothing to do with the peace, solidarity and friendship of the peoples. It has all to do with the geostrategic upgrading of the bourgeois class of Greece and consequently the upgrading of all the dangers and of bigger implications in imperialist wars, interventions and confrontations.”

D. Koutsoumbas made reference to issues of the internal political situation, criticizing the anti-labor and anti-people politics of the SYRIZA-ANEL government and of the EU. He invited the youth to draw conclusions and struggle for workers’ power, strengthening the solidarity and the common action of the peoples against the capitalists and their interstate alliances.

In the context of the 27th Anti-imperialist Camp of KNE musical concerts, sports activities, as well as debates for the 50 years of KNE and for the 100 years of the KKE were held, as well as a kids’ camp for the younger ages (from the age of 9 years). Representatives of communist youth organizations of the neighboring countries (Communist Youth Front of Italy, Communist Youth League of Yugoslavia and Communist Youth of Turkey) participated in the activities.

KKE demands: Urgent measures for the recovery of the affected and for the protection of the people
The recent fires in Attica, with its tragic consequences, the loss of dozens of human lives (more than 90), the dozens of wounded and missing persons, the destruction of property and of forest regions, constitutes a time-predicted crime. A crime whose main culprit is the politics applied for many years by all the bourgeois governments, the current SYRIZA-ANEL government among them.

The KKE has uncovered the cause of this situation: it is the politics that sacrifices the works necessary for the protection of human life to the altars of profit and is responsible for the chaotic urban expansion and for the commercialization of the land, for the nonexistence of a spatial plan that will serve the people’s needs, for the undermining of the sectors of forest protection and firefighting, for the cut-down of the public spending having as a result tremendous deficiencies in means, substructures, staff.

In the meantime, the measures announced by the government for the support of the affected are not even enough to heal the wounds, to rebuilt homes and to help these people stand on their feet again. This is what our experience teaches us from similar situations and calamities, when this kind of measures were taken.

The Communist Party of Greece (KKE), with a Question to the relevant ministers of the government, presents in Parliament the demands already proposed by trade-unions and other mass organizations of the region. In concrete, among others, we demand:

To deal with the lacks in the sectors of forest protection and firefighting, to create a plan to confront similar phenomena.
Urgent measures for the support of the local public health-care structures, for the treating of those in need.
Measures of safe housing, health and sanitation, clothing and feeding of the families affected by the fires.
Works to deal with the floods and the potential contamination of the atmosphere and of the aquifer in the fire-affected areas.
Building of a modern village under the responsibility of the state, with spatial plan that will serve the people’s needs.
Immediate reestablishment of the water and electricity networks, without charging the consumers.
Support and compensation of the citizens and professionals of the area to 100% of the total loss.
Full support for the people that lost their jobs due to the fires by the Organization of Occupation of Work Force (OAED). Full and immediate payment of their salaries, their social security and health-care benefits.
Immediate payment of unemployment benefit to all the self-employed that lost their businesses to the fires, without terms and conditions.

The so-called “new era” will rest on the “charred remains' of the people's rights.

On Tuesday 21st August 2018, Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras in his national address from the island of Ithaca on Greece's exit from the memorandum in essence heralded the continuation of the anti-people policies. The phrases “we exited the memorandum but we are not finished yet” and “with prudence and responsibility we must not return to a Greece of shortages and bankruptcy” constitute a clear confirmation toward lenders and markets that the days of anti-popular measures are not over.
Adopting celebratory tones, Tsipras attempted to cultivate a climate of anticipation for the people that something will change for the better. The island of Ithaca was specifically chosen by the government to cultivate such expectations among the people, connecting it to the mythical epic journey of Odysseus and the end to his adventures marked by his return to his place of birth, Ithaca.
In a statement on Alexis Tsipras' address from Ithaca, the Press Office of the CC of the KKE emphasizes that “the Prime Minister is attempting to hide the fact that the so-called “new era” rests on the “charred remains” of the rights of the people and the youth.
Tomorrow will be a continuation of the previous day since hundreds of memorandum laws will be in place, under the strict supervision of the EU, the bloody redundancies, the workplace jungle, tax robbery, the degradation of every aspect of human life. The Greek people know this full well no matter how much the SYRIZA-ANEL government tries to fool them, regardless of to what theatrical extremes Mr. Tsipras will go.
The government did not commit to the abolition of even one measure that was imposed upon the people by the memorandum. On the contrary it commits, in everything that it states, that the reforms will continue, that there will be no return to the past, essentially implying that the people should forget what it lost and compromise with the crumbs and one-shot assistance being handed out.
This is in any case what capital commands, just as the government partners, the EU and the WMF do, which on the one hand give credit to the government for the dirty mission it accomplished and on the other pre-pay them off for the continuation of the anti-popular policies. The promotion of these policies will be evaluated by the “markets” and the “investors” in order to show trust in the Greek economy.
The “memorandum” reality that the Prime Minister described, the poverty, unemployment, oppression, corruption, obscene profits for capital is the barbarism of the capitalist road of development, it is the core of its own policy, that conscientiously continued the policies of the ND and PASOK governments.
This strategic identification cannot be concealed as much as they all try to, with pseudo dilemmas around “anti-right – anti-SYRIZA fronts”, for “progress-maintenance” that reminds one of a “rewarmed soup” of bankrupt bipartisanship.
No trust, no delusions. A clear way out for the people means the abolition of all memorandum laws, compensation for all losses, satisfaction of contemporary needs.
The people, the working people are not “lotus eaters” and they will not stand for either Scylla or Charybdis. Let Mr. Tsipras choose with which of the two monsters he wants to parallel his government with. We will choose our own “Ithaca” that offers us the wondrous journey of struggle for the life and the future that we deserve! This “Ithaca” will certainly not disappoint us.
