Bernie’s statement about the election

Bernie NEWS: Sanders Statement on the Results of the 2024 Presidential Election November 6, 2024 BURLINGTON, Vi. – Sen. Bernie Sanders (-Vt.) today released the following statement in response to the outcome of the 2024 presidential election:

It should come as no great surprise that a Democratic Party which has abandoned working class people would find that the working class has abandoned them. First, it was the white working class, and now it is Latino and Black workers as well. While the Democratic leadership defends the status quo, the American people are angry and want change. And they’re right. Today, while the very rich are doing phenomenally well, 60% of Americans live paycheck to paycheck and we have more income and wealth inequality than ever before. Unbelievably, real, inflation-accounted-for weekly wages for the average American worker are actually lower now than they were 50 years ago.

Today, despite an explosion in technology and worker productivity, many young people will have a worse standard of living than their parents. And many of them worry that Artificial Intelligence and robotics will make a bad situation even worse. Today, despite spending far more per capita than other countries, we remain the only wealthy nation not to guarantee health care to all as a human right and we pay, by far, the highest prices in the world for prescription drugs. We, alone among major countries, cannot even guarantee paid family and medical leave. Today, despite strong opposition from a majority of Americans, we continue to spend billions funding the extremist Netanyahu government’s all out war against the Palestinian people which has led to the horrific humanitarian disaster of mass malnutrition and the starvation of thousands of children. Will the big money interests and well-paid consultants who control the Democratic Party learn any real lessons from this disastrous campaign? Will they understand the pain and political alienation that tens of millions of Americans are experiencing? Do they have any ideas as to how we can take on the increasingly powerful Oligarchy which has so much economic and political power? Probably not. In the coming weeks and months those of us concerned about grassroots democracy and economic justice need to have some very serious political discussions. Stay tuned.

Bernie Sanders is a liar, a hypocrite and mebbe a coward too. Here we go again with another righteous lecture from the guy who kow-tows to the rotten treacherous bastards of the DNC every time they demand it. He waves his tattered flag to again rally progressive minded people to a party which shits on them each and every time. One might surmise that neither he nor they are serious people who really believe what they advocate. If they did they would not get near the Democratic Party with a ten foot pole.

While he advocates for Palestine(even as his 'Posse' largely voted funds for the Zionist war machine) and healthcare(even as he supported 'Obamacare' knowing it a poor substitute for universal healthcare which would scotch that indefinitely) he is a gung ho imperialist when it comes Venezuela and Russia. What's to like?

Limited hangout

"Limited hangout" is intelligence jargon for a form of propaganda in which a selected portion of a scandal, criminal act, sensitive or classified information, etc. is revealed or leaked, without telling the whole story. The intention may be to establish credibility as a critic of something or somebody by engaging in criticism of them while in fact covering up for them by omitting many details; to distance oneself publicly from something using innocuous or vague criticism even when one's own sympathies are privately with them; or to divert public attention away from a more heinous act by leaking information about something less heinous.

This is a common tactic used by political extremist groups on both ends of the political spectrum, as well as by government intelligence agencies caught in scandals.

https://rationalwiki.org/wiki/Limited_hangout
'Limited hangout' describes Bernie and his tactics to a 'T'. This sheepdog has 'served'(who?) in the US Senate for a long time now yet he has never mentioned the fact that most of his Senatorial peers are millionaires nor how that might affect legislation which affects us workers. Yet now, as Trump tears down the curtain Bernie rises in Old Testament fury when the scum at the surface does what those immediately below them have been doing to the rest of us all along.

Yeah if only we dispose of these Trumpist billionaires(many of whom were Dem supports an election ago...) all will be lovely again...

“Israel Has A Right To Defend Itself” Is A Genocidal Slogan

Bernie Sanders has been repeatedly uttering the phrase “Israel has a right to defend itself” on his “Fighting Oligarchy” tour with Alexandria Ocasio Cortez, which in the year 2025 can only be interpreted as blatant genocide apologia.

Bernie Sanders has been repeatedly uttering the phrase “Israel has a right to defend itself” on his “Fighting Oligarchy” tour with Alexandria Ocasio Cortez, which in the year 2025 can only be interpreted as blatant genocide apologia.

Israel does not have “a right to defend itself” against an occupied population in a giant concentration camp. Under international law it has a right to end the occupation, and that’s it. “Israel has a right to defend itself” is just a slogan people say when they want to justify supplying an ongoing genocide.

At one point in the tour Sanders stood passively watching as police dragged off rally attendees who draped a Free Palestine flag over the US flag during his speech. He just awkwardly continued monologuing as their flag was confiscated and they were forcibly removed, even as the crowd booed and eventually began chanting “Free Palestine”.

at his rally today in LA Bernie Sanders once again repeated the same old genocidal Zionist hasbara "Israel has the right to defend itself" line. He is doing this 18 months into a genocide that he refuses to recognize. He is an irredeemable moral monster. An utterly depraved freak

Sanders has been mixing his support for Israel in with periodic criticisms of Netanyahu and the Israeli government’s actions in Gaza, always taking care to make his criticisms about the behavior of Israel’s current leadership and not the nature of the racist apartheid state itself.

Sanders is doing this for two reasons. Firstly, he is working to galvanize a big tent inclusive coalition of Democrats in opposition to Trump, and he wants that big tent to include people who think genocide is bad and people who think genocide is fine. He doesn’t want to offend the pro-genocide liberals.

Secondly, Sanders is doing this because he himself is a Zionist. Like other liberal Zionists, Bernie Sanders upholds a vision of an Israel that has never, ever existed: one which remains an ethnostate dominated by Jews, but which conducts itself in a kind and just manner, without constantly murdering and abusing Palestinians.

This iteration of the state of Israel is a fiction. An imaginary fantasyland, like Narnia. Everything about Israel is stacked against the possibility of such a status quo ever emerging, and Israel has always done everything it can to prevent the creation of a Palestinian state. By pretending it is possible to have the Zionist entity and also have peace and justice, liberal Zionists help manufacture public consent for continuing to feed weapons to the genocidal apartheid state of Israel.

When liberal Zionists want to support Israel’s actions, they talk about Israel as a nation, e.g. “Israel has a right to defend itself”. When liberal Zionists want to criticize Israel’s actions, they make it all about Netanyahu, e.g. “Netanyahu’s war machine.”

The framing is that when Israel deserves our sympathy it’s a collective, but when Israel is naughty the responsibility lies solely at the feet of one bad apple. This ensures that the weapons can keep flowing to Israel (because Israel as a whole is virtuous and worthy of support) while the liberal Zionist still gets to wear their progressive humanitarian clothing (because they wagged their fingers at Netanyahu).

And it’s just a complete and utter lie. Netanyahu didn’t create Israel’s genocidal tendencies, Israel’s genocidal tendencies created Netanyahu. His entire political career has been made possible by Israel’s collective racism and psychopathy upon which he rode into office.

This is nothing other than the classic Obama-style tactic of using attractive progressivish language to advance the most destructive agendas of the US empire.

In other words, it’s Democrats being Democrats.

Marjorie Taylor Greene Called It A Genocide Before Bernie Sanders

Imagine being such a dogshit human being that you’d let Marjorie Taylor Greene be a better person than you.

Caitlin Johnstone
August 2, 2025

MAGA wingnut Marjorie Taylor Greene is calling the Gaza holocaust a genocide while progressive hero Bernie Sanders continues to adamantly refuse to do so, despite the solidified consensus among human rights groups and genocide experts that that’s what this is.

This is humiliating for everything that passes for the “left” in mainstream US politics. Imagine being such a dogshit human being that you’d let Marjorie Taylor Greene be a better person than you.

I keep seeing people say we shouldn’t use the label genocide until Israel has been found guilty by an international court, but that’s exactly the same as saying you can’t say a murderer is trying to murder someone and intervene to stop him until he has been convicted of murder in a court of law.

France, the UK and Canada are saying that they intend to recognize a Palestinian state in September. It’s unclear what this would look like, how it would happen, or how it would address any of the Israeli atrocities we’re witnessing at the moment.

I mean, the US and Israel are openly and explicitly saying they’re going to empty all the Palestinians out of Gaza. What are they going to do, stick a Palestinian flag in the empty field of rubble? If they were serious about stopping this nightmare they’d be talking about hard economic sanctions.

Those who say everything Israel is doing in Gaza can be explained by October 7 have got it exactly backwards: everything we’re seeing in Gaza explains why October 7 happened in the first place.

The sadism and psychopathy we’re witnessing in Gaza didn’t magically appear 22 months ago; everyone in Gaza has been experiencing Israel’s abusiveness in various manifestations throughout their entire lives. Israel has always been this way. October 7 just gave it the excuse to completely unleash its genocidal impulses.

People still supporting this genocide really think they’ll be able to use “I didn’t know Israel was lying” to defend themselves when this all comes crashing down.

You fucking knew. You knew the whole time. You lied your way into this, but you won’t be able to lie your way out.

Israel’s strongest propaganda weapons are western governments, the western press, legions of paid trolls, and an extremely powerful lobby.

Palestine’s strongest propaganda weapons are Israel’s actions, raw video footage, facts, journalism, and the “translate from Hebrew” button.

Gosh I wonder what else the Palestinians have been right about the entire fucking time?

Israel and its supporters constantly frame Israel’s actions as representative of all Jews everywhere. They’ll deny it, but it’s true. That is indisputably what you are communicating when you accuse everyone who criticizes Israel’s actions of hating Jews.

Israel is doing the worst things anyone has ever seen under a Star of David banner and claiming to represent all Jews when they do it. Where do people expect this to lead? Do they think it will lead good places?

The truth is that Israel and its supporters have done more to promote hatred of Jews in the last 22 months than all the neo-Nazis and antisemitic conspiracy theorists on earth have in the last eighty years. Nobody is fomenting hatred of Jews more rapidly and effectively than the genocidal apartheid state which claims to represent all Jews.

Everyone complains that Israel and its apologists lie constantly, but, I mean, of course they’re going to lie. Have you seen what the truth looks like?

Hating Israel without also hating the US-centralized western power structure that backs it is a silly and nonsensical position.

Historically, those who commit genocide have always had stated justifications for their actions. They’ve always claimed they were defending themselves. They’ve always denied they were in the wrong. They didn’t twist their mustaches like cartoon supervillains cackling about how fun it is to do genocide and be evil, they provided reasons and explanations for why what they were doing was right.

The fact that Israel has arguments and apologia defending its actions doesn’t negate the conclusively established fact that Israel is committing genocide. Of course they’re justifying their actions and claiming they’re in the right; that’s what always happens.

I’m having trouble finding the words to talk about the people who are scurrying around lying and manipulating to excuse the deliberate starvation of civilians in Gaza today. “Evil” doesn’t cut it. “Monster” and “psychopath” are too kind.

How do these people live with themselves? They have to live each and every moment of their lives inside the sort of brain that would produce this kind of behavior. I sincerely cannot imagine living life in that way, for even one day.

Israel supporters are so shockingly, venomously evil that it makes you stop and re-evaluate everything you think you know about humanity. Every spiritual, philosophical and psychological insight you’ve arrived at over the course of your life will struggle to make sense of the freakish, gratuitous sadism you’ll witness in Israel’s apologists describing their own thoughts in their own words. It actually makes you question your entire worldview.

I’m out of words. I write words for a living, and I have no words. There is nothing I can say.

Bernie Sanders Is A Ghoulish Zionist

Dude goes two years refusing to call a genocide a genocide, then issues a statement which begins by placing blame for the genocide on the victims of said genocide.

Caitlin Johnstone
September 19, 2025

Bernie Sanders finally issued a statement acknowledging the indisputable fact that Israel is committing genocide in Gaza after two years of adamantly refusing to do so. The statement begins as follows:

“Hamas, a terrorist organization, began this war with its brutal attack on October 7, 2023, which killed 1,200 innocent people and took 250 hostages. Israel, as any other country, had a right to defend itself from Hamas.

But,”

Dude goes two years refusing to call a genocide a genocide, then issues a statement which begins by placing blame for the genocide on the victims of said genocide. He also lumps the hundreds of IDF troops slain in the attack in with “innocent people”, ignores the large percentage of the death toll that would have been killed by Israeli troops under the Hannibal Directive, and babbles about Israel’s “right to defend itself” against an occupied population.

The rest of the statement is standard liberal Zionist fare, acknowledging the horror of the situation in Gaza while blaming it all on Benjamin Netanyahu and not the murderous apartheid state which would be doing what it’s doing with or without Netanyahu. It’s just progressive-sounding Israel apologia accompanied by a denunciation driven by the inability to escape finally calling this thing what it is.

This is the face of what passes for the “left” in modern US politics. Absolutely ghoulish.

Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich described Gaza as a “real estate bonanza” on Wednesday, saying Israel is in talks with the United States negotiating how the two countries will divide up the enclave.

“We are checking how this becomes a real estate bonanza — I’m not joking — and pays for itself,” Smotrich said, adding, “I’ve begun negotiations with the Americans, and I’m saying this seriously, because we paid a lot of money for this war. We need to work out how we share percentages on the land. The demolition phase, the first stage of urban renewal, we’ve already done. Now we need to build.”

It’s absolutely incredible how often Smotrich and his buddy Itamar Ben-Gvir will just come out and admit that Israel is doing the thing everyone says it’s doing. If this information had come out as a WikiLeaks drop or something it would have been a bombshell revelation, and this guy is right here just bloody saying it.

There’s another report from Haaretz about the horrific things Israeli soldiers say they’ve been doing to civilians in Gaza, including descriptions of the murders of children.

Whenever I read these accounts I can’t help thinking about how there are westerners joining the IDF to participate in this genocide. People travel to Israel to massacre civilians and then fly back home to their real countries and resume their lives as though nothing happened, like they went backpacking in Europe or something. And now they walk among us in our communities, and we’re supposed to be fine with it.

Netanyahu says he has been invited to visit with President Trump for the fourth time this year. At this point they should just save on jet fuel and move him into a room in the White House.

Trump is repeatedly bombing civilian vessels under the ridiculous justification that drug traffickers are “terrorists”, without even providing evidence that they are drug traffickers. Trump has now admitted to the US bombing three Venezuelan boats on these completely evidence-free grounds.

When Yemen was attacking ships to enforce a blockade against a genocide, Trump declared them all terrorists and massacred hundreds of civilians. Now Trump is attacking civilian boats and calling them the terrorists.

Ask a scientist when the universe began and they’ll tell you 13.8 billion years ago.

Ask a Young Earth creationist when the universe began and they’ll tell you six thousand years ago.

Ask a Zionist when the universe began and they’ll tell you October 7, 2023.

The Racial Allegiance of Bernie Sanders: How Colonial Beneficiaries Always Stay On-Code
Posted by Internationalist 360° on October 31, 2025

Image
This footage of Bernie Sanders’ Zionist alter-ego emerging is from eleven years ago. Before you watch it, let me warn you: Your blood will boil. Brace yourself.

History will record that when genocide returned to the world, America’s most prominent progressive provided its moral cover. That is Bernie Sanders’ true legacy: not the fighter for justice his supporters imagined, but the colonial beneficiary who stayed on-code when his people committed the ultimate crime.

Liberal Genocide

The mask has fallen from the face of American progressivism, and what stands exposed beneath is the hideous visage of racial solidarity disguised as moral complexity. Bernie Sanders, the supposed champion of the dispossessed, the voice that thundered against endless wars and corporate greed, revealed his true allegiance when Palestinian children began dying by the thousands in Gaza. When the moment of truth arrived, when history demanded he choose between his progressive rhetoric and his tribal loyalty, Sanders chose tribe.

This is the most damning indictment of liberal politics in our time: that even its most principled voices will abandon principle when their own people are the perpetrators of genocide. Sanders didn’t simply fail to call for a ceasefire while tens of thousands died—he actively provided moral cover for mass murder, deploying the same propaganda talking points used by AIPAC and Israeli military spokesmen. The man who built his career opposing American imperialism became its most effective advocate when that imperialism wore a Star of David.

The Theater of Moral Anguish

In August 2014, as Israel reduced Gaza to rubble, killing over 2,000 Palestinians and destroying 20,000 homes, Sanders held a town hall that should have ended his political career. Confronted by constituents demanding he condemn Israel’s massacres, Sanders deployed the classic colonial script: “KHamas is sending missiles into Israel… KHamas has used money that came into Gaza for construction purposes… to build these very sophisticated tunnels into Israel for military purposes.”

Every word was a lie designed to justify genocide. The “sophisticated tunnels” were crude defensive positions built by a population under total siege. The “construction money” was humanitarian aid Israel had deliberately restricted to ensure Palestinian suffering. The “missiles” were homemade projectiles fired by a resistance movement fighting for survival against a nuclear-armed apartheid state.

“Shut up! You don’t have the microphone!”

But Sanders knew exactly what he was doing. This was not ignorance—it was calculated complicity. When angry constituents — and the video shows, these were good people, real good people — challenged his propaganda, Sanders revealed the authoritarian core beneath his democratic socialist veneer: “Shut up! You don’t have the microphone!” This is how colonial beneficiaries respond when their moral authority is challenged by the consequences of their complicity.

The theater of Sanders’ moral anguish—his hand-wringing about civilian casualties while endorsing the mechanisms producing those casualties—represents the pinnacle of liberal bad faith. He perfected the art of appearing troubled by genocide while providing intellectual cover for its continuation. This is not contradiction—it is collaboration.

Humanitarian Pause

When October 7th provided Israel with the pretext for implementing the final solution to the Palestinian question, Sanders faced the defining test of his political life. Over 400 of his former staffers—many of them Muslim, Arab, and Jewish—begged him to call for a ceasefire as children died at a rate of one every fifteen minutes. Jewish activists shut down Grand Central Station and occupied the Capitol demanding he use his moral authority to stop the slaughter.

Sanders’ response revealed the hollowness of his anti-war credentials. While Dick Durbin—hardly a progressive icon—became the first senator to call for a ceasefire, Sanders played semantic games, distinguishing between “humanitarian pauses” and “permanent ceasefires” while Palestinian families were incinerated by American bombs. His justification was that the Palestinian resistance—a guerrilla force without air force, navy, or mechanized army—posed an existential threat to a nuclear-armed state.

This was not political calculation—it was racial solidarity. Sanders could not bring himself to oppose a project he had romanticized since his youth, when he lived on a kibbutz built on stolen Palestinian land and absorbed the mythology of European settlers as indigenous liberators. His “pride and admiration for Israel” trumped his supposed commitment to human rights when those rights belonged to the wrong people.

“When asked about a single democratic state with equal rights for all, Sanders rejected it because ‘that would be the end of the state of Israel’”

By the time Sanders finally uttered the word “ceasefire” in August 2024, Gaza’s Health Ministry reported over 40,000 Palestinians dead—but The Lancet estimated the true toll had already reached 186,000 by July, making Sanders’ delay even more obscene. His belated conversion came only after the genocide had achieved its objectives: the destruction of Gaza as a viable society and the terrorization of Palestinians into submission.

Image
The total destruction of a civilization.

Sanders’ betrayal becomes even more grotesque when examined against his refusal to acknowledge Israel’s apartheid character. While supporting boycotts of South Africa’s racist regime, Sanders opposes BDS against Israel despite identical worse conditions of racial segregation and dispossession. When asked about a single democratic state with equal rights for all, Sanders rejected it because “that would be the end of the state of Israel.”

This is the confession that exposes everything. Sanders supports racial supremacy when practiced by his tribe while opposing it when practiced by others. His commitment to democracy extends only to those he considers fully human. Palestinians, in Sanders’ worldview, exist to be managed and contained, not to enjoy equal rights in their ancestral homeland.

The mythology Sanders promotes—of Israel as a beacon of progressive values—requires deliberate ignorance of basic historical facts. Israel has never existed without occupying Palestinian territory. From 1948 to 1966, Palestinian citizens of Israel lived under military rule. Since 1967, Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank have endured the longest military occupation in modern history. There has not been a single year of Israel’s existence when it functioned as anything resembling a democracy for the people it rules.

Sanders knows this history but chooses to ignore it because acknowledging it would force him to choose between his tribal loyalty and his professed values. Like all colonial beneficiaries, he resolves this contradiction by defining humanity itself in racial terms—democracy for Jews, apartheid for Arabs, and moral lectures for anyone who notices the difference (or he simply tells them to “shut up“).

Progressive Nazism

The Sanders betrayal illuminates the deeper pathology of progressive Zionism—what in essence can only be equated to progressive Nazism: the belief that genocide can be made moral through proper rhetoric and that apartheid can be justified through historical grievance. Like the German intellectuals who provided sophisticated justifications for racial supremacy, Sanders represents the liberal wing of American and Zionist settler colonialism—more sophisticated in its language, more concerned with appearances, but ultimately committed to the same project of racial domination.

This is why Sanders criticizes only Israel’s “right-wing government” while endorsing the fundamental structures of Zionist supremacy. He imagines a kinder, gentler apartheid — a random detention here, a kidnapped Palestinian child there — led by the Israeli Labor Party, ignoring that every major opposition figure—from Naftali Bennett to Benny Gantz to Yair Lapid—supports even more extreme measures against Palestinians than Netanyahu himself.

Bennett, who proudly stated “I’ve killed lots of Arabs in my life – and there’s no problem with that,” called for starving North Gaza into submission. Gantz boasted of flattening entire neighborhoods in previous massacres. Lapid endorsed the total siege that cut off food and water to two million people. Sanders’ fantasy of progressive Zionism exists nowhere in Israeli politics because the entire project is premised on Palestinian elimination.

The cognitive dissonance required to maintain this position has driven Sanders into increasingly obvious contradictions. He calls Israel a democracy while supporting laws that restrict citizenship by race. He condemns apartheid in South Africa while defending identical practices in Palestine. He opposes genocide when committed by ISIS but refuses to acknowledge it when committed by Israel, waiting for “legal authorities” to make determinations that Holocaust scholars and genocide experts made within weeks of October 7th.

The Racial Logic of Liberal Complicity

Sanders’ trajectory reveals the racial logic underlying American liberalism: that European Jews are presumptively civilized while Arab Muslims are presumptively barbarous, that Jewish suffering demands eternal sympathy while Palestinian suffering requires immediate rationalization, that Israeli violence is always defensive while Palestinian resistance is inherently terrorist.
This is not conscious bigotry but the unconscious racism that structures Western political discourse. Sanders genuinely believes he opposes racism while practicing it, genuinely believes he supports human rights while denying them to Palestinians, genuinely believes he champions the oppressed while providing cover for their oppression.

The psychological mechanism is identical to that employed by white liberals during the civil rights era who supported equality in principle while opposing every practical measure to achieve it. They were not lying about their commitment to justice—they were defining justice in ways that preserved their privileges while satisfying their consciences.

Sanders represents the evolution of this mindset in the age of humanitarian imperialism. He opposes war while supporting the mechanisms that make war inevitable. He champions the working class while endorsing policies that impoverish Palestinians. He condemns authoritarianism while defending the most sophisticated police state in human history.

The Bankruptcy of Electoralism

The Sanders betrayal should permanently discredit the fantasy that progressive change can be achieved through electoral politics in a settler colonial state. No politician, however sincere their rhetoric, can challenge the fundamental structures of American empire because those structures define the parameters within which American politics operates.

Sanders was supposed to be different. His opposition to the Iraq War, his critique of corporate power, his solidarity with striking workers—all of this suggested a politician capable of transcending the limitations of American liberalism. But when the moment of truth arrived, when challenging genocide required opposing Israel, Sanders chose racial solidarity over moral consistency.

This is not a personal failing but a structural inevitability. American politicians are selected for their willingness to serve American interests, and American interests in the West Asia require Palestinian subjugation. Those who threaten this consensus—like Rashida Tlaib—face coordinated campaigns to destroy their careers. Those who serve it—like Sanders—are rewarded with influence and respectability.

The lesson is clear: liberation will never come through the ballot box in a system designed to prevent it. Real change requires movements capable of challenging power directly, not politicians capable of channeling dissent into harmless electoral theaters.

“Bernie Sanders will be remembered not as the champion of the oppressed but as the progressive who abandoned the most oppressed people on Earth when they needed him most”

Image
Bernie Sanders and AOC during one of their “Fight Oligarchy” performances while bowing to the Zionist oligarchy that is destroying our world.

This is how empire sustains itself—not through crude coercion but through ideological capture of potential opposition. By convincing progressive Americans that Israeli apartheid represents Jewish liberation, the Zionist movement has neutralized the very forces that should have opposed it. Sanders didn’t betray his principles—he revealed that his principles were always subordinate to his tribal loyalties.

The Palestinians have done Americans an invaluable service by forcing this choice into the open. Their suffering has exposed the hollowness of American human rights rhetoric, the bankruptcy of liberal politics, and the persistence of racial hierarchy in supposedly enlightened societies. They have shown us who our leaders really are when stripped of their humanitarian pretenses.

Bernie Sanders will be remembered not as the champion of the oppressed but as the progressive who abandoned the most oppressed people on Earth when they needed him most. His legacy is a monument to the moral cowardice of American liberalism and the racial allegiances that ultimately define it.

When push came to shove, the supposed radical revealed himself to be just another white man protecting white interests behind a mask of moral complexity. The mask has fallen. The man stands exposed. And the Palestinians—as always—have paid the price for American delusions about its own virtue.

History will record that when genocide returned to the world, America’s most prominent progressive provided its moral cover. That is Bernie Sanders’ true legacy: not the fighter for justice his supporters imagined, but the colonial beneficiary who stayed on-code when his people committed the ultimate crime.
